Choose from a wide range of summer activities in Peisey Vallandry
With the opening of the new Club Med in Peisey Vallandry, the Office De Tourisme has made great efforts this year to provide a wide range activities and cultural events. Each week there are different events happening which will be updated regularly on the Peisey tourist office web site.
There are a wide range of activities to experience during the summer in Peisey Vallandry, including:
Arc Aventures – a week of activity programmes for children
Over at Arc 1800 – five minutes by car in the summer – there is a broad range of activities for children – Arc Aventures run adventure weeks for children aged 6 to 14, where the children can either spend the whole morning or the whole day (taking a picnic with them) discovering the wide range of activities available in Les Arcs. This is run by the established Arc Aventures team – their activities includes walking, swimming, rock climbing, climbing / swinging through the trees, trampolining, mountain biking, rafting and a range of other supervised activities depending on their age. This is a great option if you want to go off and do your own exploring or have some time to yourself.

White water Rafting, Canoeing and Canyoning
One of the local instructors is a reliable old friend who you would be happy to entrust your children to, and runs the H2O watersports centre in Landry. You can either register on a daily basis or book in for a full week and try out all their different sports, although for larger groups, it is recommended to book a few days in advance to avoid disappointment. You have to try the Canyoning – sliding down the course of waterfalls in wet suits, harnesses and helmets (all provided)!
Paragliding and hang-gliding
Vallandry has the reputation for being one of the best sites in the Alps for paragliding and hang-gliding. It is a popular destination for beginners right up to pilot training schools, for your first 'top to bottom' flights, progressing to thermalling and cross country. Peisey Vallandry gets the full force of the afternoon sun and has strong thermal conditions from mid afternoon until early evening- ideal conditions for everyone, from novices to experienced pilots.
Mountain biking
Situated at the heart of the Paradiski area, a number of the lifts, including the Vanoise Express (across to La Plagne – reopening Christmas 2008), the Transarc (from Arc 1800 across to Arc 2000) and the Funicular railway (from Bourg St Maurice up to Arc 1600) are open during the summer providing good access to both Les Arcs and La Plagne, as well as the two lifts in Persey - Vallandry. There are limitless trails and tracks across the mountains to suit all levels of experience.
In addition, there are 15 kms of tracks along the banks of the river Isere – again you can take the funicular back up to Arc 1600 (although you have a bit of uphill peddling still to do from there across and up to Peisey).
Golf
There is an 18 hole golf course through the pine and larch woods of Arc 1800, which in the summer is directly accessible by road from Peisey Vallandry. The course is open to the public and it has a driving range and a golf school for all standards of player.
Riding and Archery
Enter the Vanoise National Park at Rosuel – ten minutes by car / free bus from Peisey, and try your hand at archery or take in the scenic beauty of the mountains on horseback. The riding is really more of an opportunity to take a leisurely ride up the valley and you don’t need to break into a canter if you don’t want to! They have lessons for children who will also learn how to muck out the stables and groom the ponies.
Climbing / Mountaineering
This on the other hand is distinctly more serious and you can go to any level here! Groups can be arranged to climb the various neighboring peaks and glaciers with a guide.
High Trees – climbing
Peisey has recently opened the new “High Trees” climbing school where three different levels challenge await you! Run by ski school instructors, you and your children can climb the pines and larches of Nancroix and abseil across the valley!
Walking
There are literally limitless walks for all ages and levels of fitness, with over 200 kms of marked trails around Les Arcs. For the more ambitious, walks can be arranged over to the Mont Blanc crossing into Italy, with overnight stays in the mountain refuges. This is a very popular pastime in France and in order to secure a bed for the night, you will need to make a reservation in advance.
Swimming
In addition to the pool located between our chalets, there is a large pool at Arc 1800 which has a great slide for the children and a snack bar so you can spend the whole day there. There is also another large pool in Bourg St Maurice.
Tennis
Vallandry has two courts that can be booked through the Office De Tourisme.
Fishing
There are a number of lakes in the area where you can go fishing.
